What are your hours of operation?

Our events can take place any day but mostly on weekends. If you’d like to make reservations outside our regular times, please contact us. We have mermaids who can come to you.

How can I pay?

You can pay by credit card online upon booking or over the phone providing your number. Please note, all gigs must be booked in advance. We cannot accept walk-in reservations on the day of.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes?

For parties, we can host groups as small as 5, and if you’re really popular, we can accommodate up to 30 of your family and friends!

For lessons, please note that we can only offer individual classes at the moment, even if family and friends can join in to watch. A mermaid will swim and play with the kids.

When should I book? How far in advance?

Spots do fill up closer to the date so if you’re thinking about booking, please do.

Events must ideally be booked at least 1 week in advance. We recommend booking at least 4 weeks in advance for larger groups.

Where are you located?

We are currently based in Canada (Montreal) and Mexico (Puerto Vallarta area). We offer our services within a 50km area from the mermaid’s location. If available the mermaid could travel for certain events. Transportation fees then apply. Please send us your request and we’ll try to accommodate.

Can I join with my kids?

Yes, this is a great parent-kids activity! Leave us a note in the comment section of your cart so we can properly prepare.

What should I wear for a lesson?

Wear a comfortable bathing suit that allows you to move freely, a strapless bikini bra might cause a wardrobe malfunction.

Do you provide the equipment?

We supply the mermaid costume for our lessons to transform from two legs to a tail ready to go in the water. We recommend bringing an underwater camera, towel, goggles, flip-flops, etc.

Can we bring our own mermaid tails?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own mermaid tails to the class, whether they’re made of fabrics or silicone. There is no discount if you bring your own tail.

Can we take pictures or videos?

Please do! We leave time at the end of every class for free swimming and photos.
We love seeing pictures of you having fun! Make sure you tag us @merMagias #merMagias

What is your cancellation policy?

Please see our privacy policy.

Is there a minimum age for lessons?

The minimum age is 7 in order to wear the mermaid tail, and no maximum age! Kids are welcome to our mermaid entertainment parties. The mermaid will have fun with them but parents still need to watch and attend to their kids

Do I have to know how to swim to participate?

Yes. For classes, all participants must be comfortable in the water and be able to swim at least 25 meters, tread water for 1 minute, and float on your front and back without assistance before swimming in a mermaid tail.

Swimming in a tail is harder than swimming without one because your legs are literally strapped together. If you cannot do the minimum swimming listed above, we recommend taking regular swimming lessons until you’re able to do it. We can also provide regular swim training.

Kids that are not good swimmers must wear floaters during our water events.

Is mermaiding safe?

Water is the mermaids’ element. Even if they can invite you into their world, it is not so much the case for humans. Therefore, there is always a risk factor for any aquatic activity. However, your safety is our team’s priority. We are experienced instructors with a passion for education, and dedicated to aquatic safety. The classes start in shallow water. Our mermaids instructors are qualified swimmers and certified in First Aid & Safety.

We require a minimum swimming ability of at least 25 meters and 1 minute of treading water unassisted in order to swim in the tails.

When wearing a mermaid tail, always ensure you swim with a buddy. Kids should always be supervised by an adult.

Can people come and just watch or do they have to pay?

Friends and family are welcome to watch the class and take photos at no additional cost.

Can guys do it?

All mermaids, mermen, merfolks, and merpeople are welcome, from any shape, size and colour! We have a monofin that fits up to men’s shoe size 11 (ladies 13).

I need mermaid photos. Can I use yours?

You are welcome as long as you credit and link MerMagias for each image you use. You may not use the photos for commercial use (to sell your own product), social media posts unaccompanied by an article, or in any way to disparage MerMagias or any other mermaids.
